French Montana says he put Lil Durk on and people are confused
After a viral tweet mocking French Montana’s solo discography commissioned on hip-hop Twitter this week, the Bronx rapper launched a Twitter rant today to name several artists he brought to the game, including Lil Durk . Unfortunately, his comment left some people confused.
On Wednesday (October 27), French Montana took to his Twitter account to broadcast reviews who suggested his solo songs were irrelevant. It comes after the French was the subject of an Oct. 25 tweet featuring a Squid game same asking fans to name at least five French solo pieces. “’For the next game you have to name FIVE French songs from Montana with no features,” the tweet read along with a screenshot of the acclaimed new Netflix series.
Apparently a lot of people didn’t remember French’s solo tracks, to which he replied:
“I don’t worry about anything
Fuck with me, take a bag
Do not panic
Call to shoot
It’s all gone
The devil wants my soul
Henny and my 44
What does it look like
i am so special
Now eat an Imp cock I’m dropping a solo track this week. “
This prompted French to launch a Twitter rant today, in which he reminded enemies of his resume in the rap game, including featuring Durk and the late rapper Chinx, as well as producer Harry Fraud.
“THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE ME AND MAX B DIDN’T GIVE THEM THE BIGGEST ‘WAVE’, literally COKE WAVE 1,2,3,” French tweeted in all caps. “THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE I WON’T LET GIVE CHINX DRUGZ LIL DURK AND HARRY FRAUD …”
He continued, “THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE I DIDN’T GIVE MAC N CHEESE 1,2,3 CASINO LIFE 1,2.” THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE I DIDN’T JUST GET ONE. DIAMOND RECORD YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER HAS STILL GOT ONE? “
French concluded his rant with the following statements: “THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE I DIDN’T GIVE COKE BOYS 1,2,3,4,5. THEY GOT AMNESIA LIKE FWMGAB WAS NOT BIGGEST RAP RECORD IN NY THIS SUMMER. “
Several fans were confused about French’s statement about Lil Durk. For those who don’t know, French reportedly signed Durk to his Coke Boys imprint in 2013. However, Durk never officially signed to the Coke Boys label. He signed a deal with Def Jam Records in 2012, which he left in 2018, citing creative differences. After leaving Def Jam, Durk was supposed to get support from the French, but things didn’t work out and there is no disagreement between them.
Nonetheless, fans seemed confused by French’s statement.
“You didn’t give us lil durk,” wrote one fan. “As soon as you are done riding the wave, you don’t even have the courtesy of releasing her album, we don’t forget. Respect yourself.”
“Nigga Durk was turned on long before he fucked you and he was way more influential than you in 2012 than you have been in your entire career,” another tweeted.
Certainly, the French gave artists a platform with its Coca Boys mixtapes, but the initial October 25 Squid games even laughed at his solo songs and not all his contributions to rap.
