Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi launches three postgraduate programs, the first of their kind in the region

True to its philosophy of providing world-class education, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has launched three new Master’s programs, unique in nature and the first of their kind in the region. The programs are; Master in art history and archeology, specialty in archeology and cultural heritage, Master in physics – Specialization in non-destructive characterization with applications for cultural heritage and Master in document management and archival studies. The programs are recognized worldwide and are subject to approval by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the United Arab Emirates.

The Multidisciplinary Master in Art History and Archeology, Specialized Archeology and Cultural Heritage has been developed to meet the need to address current challenges in the field of archeology and to provide students with a 360-degree overview of different fields such as archeology, heritage, and other related disciplines with particular emphasis on the challenges faced in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates in general.
While the unique interdisciplinary Master in Physics – Specialization in Non-Destructive Characterization with Applications for Cultural Heritage, addresses scientific research topics related to cultural heritage. Graduates of this program will have the ability to contribute to research and development projects, and to carry out cross-cutting and innovative analyzes, which opens the doors to employment opportunities in cultural heritage, archeology and the field of art, as well as in any field requiring in-depth and innovative analysis, such as materials science, oil and gas, aerospace, environment, forensic science or engineering of the architecture.
In the wake of the digital revolution and the transition to a paperless administration and smart cities, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has developed the Master in Records Management and Archival studies in cooperation with the National Archives. This program prepares students to become knowledgeable professionals who can embrace both traditional and new methods of records and archives management as companies continue to move forward in the era of big data. The strength of this program lies not only in its ability to meet the demands of the labor market, but also in the coverage of specific professional courses related to business management in different sectors such as health records management, management financial records and the management of legal and defense cases. Although artificial intelligence is a central concept of this program, it also focuses on disruptive technologies, such as Blockchain.
